Yoga is not a competitive sport.  Before you begin a yoga pose (asana), it is important to recognize your body’s capabilities.  Never force your body into a posture. However, lengthening and deep breathing may allow one to move deeper into the anana. Always remember “pain is never gain in yoga.”  Progress may be slow, but with time your body will gain flexibility, balance and strength. However, before starting any new exercise program it is always wise to first consult with your physician.
