Instructor Judy Quick Jeffries is a certified Hatha yoga instructor.  She is committed to all students, however, as a “Boomer” she is particularly aware of that population’s needs.  With balancing family, home, job, parents, etc., stress may become a factor in one’s life as it did in Judy’s.  Upon a suggestion from a friend, Judy attended a yoga class and started to experience the process of relaxing, rebalancing and renewing.  After ten years of yoga practice, Judy took her yoga teacher training with Joseph LaPage at IYT.  As a former teacher in Wake Co. schools, the information she now imparts to others is the benefit of a yoga practice -- relaxing, rebalancing and renewing.  Additional benefits that may be noted from a yoga practice are:

“YOGA GETS BETTER WITH AGE, AND AGE GETS BETTER WITH YOGA.”

Lilias Folan

In our worried, hurried culture, yoga can be extremely healing because it requires that we slow down, breathe, and stretch the muscles where we hold tension.  Students are encouraged to be aware of those poses that feel good to their bodies and pass on those that are inappropriate for them.  Exterior appearance, or how many poses (asanas) one can do is not the objective of these non-competitive classes. As students move into the various poses, and lengthen the spine as they stretch, one remembers  the old Chinese saying “the youth of the individual is to be found in the spine.”
